You’d find this place just as easily in Tokyo as you’d find it in downtown Vancouver. Custom-made pottery plates, awesomely fresh food, and attention to details (plus an all-Japanese staff) let you know that you’re getting the real thing at the Gyoza King. The kind of place that’s perfect for a date or dinner with friends or if you want a funky casual place to hit with the ‘rents.
Nothing not to like here…well, except for the natto, but if you like natto, you like natto. We’re not going to change your mind. But really, the food is great – but don’t ignore the menu just to focus on the gyoza – everything on the menu is worth a try.
ebi mayo (fried shrimp in mayo sauce)
ebinira gyoza (shrimp, pork and vegetables) – don’t stop here though – try them all!
saba miso (mackerel in miso sauce)
asari yakiudon (fresh clams in garlic butter with udon noodles)
maguro tataki (lightly grilled albicore tuna in ponzu sauce)
Dinner for 4 with two large Sapporo – including tax & tip: $75
