Browns Social House

November 7th, 2007 · No Comments

We were looking for a place for a late night snack and drink after the Beckham (LA Galaxy v. Vancouver White Caps) exhibition game. Browns in Yaletown was close and convenient. The sparkling wine at $5 per glass was very reasonably priced and decent (I think it was Seaview Brut). The margarita was made from fresh limes and although slightly watery – had some good bite and the requisite salted brim. The service was nice. The atmosphere is like a sports bar with TVs everywhere which can make it difficult to have a conversation – your eyes just keep being drawn back (like bugs to a light) to Pamela Anderson doing whatever on the TV. The Szechuan beans are not recommended – basically doused in super salty hoisin-like sauce. The fish burger was apparently good – but maybe a little too reminiscent of fish sticks on a bun with mayo and lettuce. Overall rating – average – but what do you expect from a chain?
