Intelligentsia Coffee

Intelligentsia Coffee T: Our major research project of finding the perfect (for us) espresso maker showed that when it came to espresso, all roads lead to Rome – that is, to Intelligentsia Coffee here in Chicago. So – we’re here for a week – definitely a destination that we wanted to check out. Their ‘black cat’ blend of espresso continually receives high marks from espresso aficionados everywhere but they’ve got a pretty wicked selection of other coffees and teas, not to mention they make a killer cap that you can get while you’re in the store.

We happened to be staying downtown, so we hit up the location near the Art Institute and were hugely impressed – if I had to study anything in Chicago, this would be the coffee shop that I’d pretty much permanently park myself in:

These guys were uber-friendly and helpful when it came to selecting some coffee to pick up and with every pound that you buy the guy told us that you get a free cup of (drip) coffee. Consider us sold – the cool vibe of the place, the great espresso drinks, the huge selection of beans, and the helpful staff – now why on earth can’t I find a place like this in Vancouver? They’ve got 3 locations in Chicago and one in LA – don’t miss ‘em on your next trip.
