Tropika Vancouver, BC

While out for a little holiday shopping, we decided to hit up Tropika on Robson street for lunch. Tropika is a chain restaurant that offers “Malaysian/Thai” cuisine and uses such descriptive terms as “tastefully hot” on their menu to describe the spice in their food. Chain? “insert name here”/Thai? “Tastefully hot”?

I was wary. We stuck to the Malaysian end of the cuisine – we’ve both been to and cooked in Thailand and had some pretty spectacular food there. But while one of us has been to Singapore & Malaysia, the other has not, and neither have really “explored for food” in the Malay peninsula. So, with our lack of knowledge about Malaysian food leading us (other than knowing it is *delicious*), we ordered XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX.

Bottom line: the food was great. It came out of the kitchen super-quick, was hot, fresh, and delicious – every bite. Above you can see the XXXX and below #1 you see the XXXX and below #2 you see the XXXX.

The XXXX was XXXX…

Service was excellent – friendly, fast, pleasant. The restaurant was clean and the decor was ornate and fun. Definitely I’d eat here again just to keep working my way through the menu of Malaysian food. Based on how good the Malaysian food was, I’m sure that the Thai food must be pretty respectable as well. If you want relatively inexpensive Malaysian/Thai food, a friendly service, and a clean, fun place to eat – you won’t go wrong at Tropika.
