Chambar proved to me once again why it is one of our favorite restaurants. Great cocktails, interesting and varied beer list, solid food and excellent service – all at a reasonable price. The moule frites Congolaise was an ample serving of mussels swimming in a fragrant broth ( I was practically drinking the broth ) with definitely above-average frites. We also tried the choucroute de la mer – a solid dish. Portion size was just right given we each had an entree and shared an appetizer – a duck liver terrine served with french-toast style truffled brioche and a Kriek granita. The space is nice although the tables are quite close together. Reservations strongly suggested. Varied crowd – from couples to families celebrating – not the usual mix you see but somehow it worked. Approx $135 for dinner for two with lots of booze.
