There is a reason why Bishop’s has been in business for twenty years or more. The food was great, the space was attractive and intimate and the service was excellent. At a certain price point for food, you begin to expect excellent service as well as great food and, too often, the service is quite lacking. Not so at Bishop’s. Everyone is pleasant and attentive but not too attentive. John Bishop comes around to each table and at least exchanges a few words with all the customers – not often experienced these days and adds a nice touch to the dining experience. In fact, I even saw him seating as well as serving customers. I also think this type of service cultivates repeat customers and there were definitely a few regulars in the room. Any place that has Lillet on hand always puts us in a good mood. I tried the Bishop’s martini – delicious. Appetizers of Salt Spring Island Mussels and Roasted Berkshire pork belly (preferred the pork but really who doesn’t love ham). The maitre d’ suggested a great bottle of portuguese wine to accompany our mains. Generous portions of perfectly cooked meat – we had the Polderside Farms duck breast and the Spring Creek Beef Tenderloin. For dessert, we topped it off with the cheese plate with homemade crackers.

A perfect dinner, wine and service. One of our favorite restaurants in Vancouver.
