Pinky's Steakhouse (Yaletown)

The Bottom Line:

Don’t go here. Don’t think about going here. If you think about go here, think about something else.

I’ve been here twice. The setting is swanky, but the food is terrible and everything is expensive. Steak? I had better steak at The Keg the same week. The Keg? Yes, that’s how bad the steak at this so-called Steakhouse is.

The sides? How bad can fries be? Pretty bad, when they’re soggy and greasy. How bad can a salad be? Pretty bad when you put whole sun-dried tomatoes in it. Nice! I love tomato-flavoured leather in my salads – thank you!

The booze – too expensive. The service – the first time, they didn’t know what an ‘old fashioned’ was. At a steakhouse? The second time, a bit too attentive, joining in with our conversations uninvited.

How places like this stay open this long, I’ll never know. They’ve got a great location, a great look. Now they need to drop the prices on booze, fire their kitchen staff, create an entirely new menu, then I’ll be happy to go back. For now, I’ll stay across the street at Rodney’s any time.

You don’t need to know where this place is: no address for you.
