Edible BC – Fuel Night Vancouver, BC

June 24th, 2008 · No Comments

What a great and thoughtful wedding gift from fellow food lovers in Toronto. Went to one of the Granville Island chef night’s put on by Edible BC. Lucky for us that the chef of one of our favorite restaurants in Vancouver, Robert Belcham from Fuel Restaurant, was the chef that night. They set out a table outside the Edible Vancouver store in Granville Market and serve local BC wines to accompany each dish. Belcham is not only a great chef but an affable and very likeable host. He also seems to treat his staff well believing in the philosophy that only happy people can make happy food. Fuel also tries to source from local producers, if possible. The highlights were the scallop appetizers and the demos on how to make pasta and sausage. Belcham made it look so easy that we just had to go out and buy the meat grinding attachment for my niece’s 1st birthday (something I am sure she has always wanted).

T: Yes, a great evening. Chef Belcham and his co-chef, Ted truly impressed with their seemingly simple creation of truly delicious dishes. Their messages: you don’t have to go far to get great food. Respect your food and know your food, and you will make great food.

A truly impressive and fun evening, well organized and run by the folks at Edible BC.
