This was my third trip here – I’ve hit the place up on two other afternoons, been very impressed and had to bring D as this kind of thing is right up her alley.

The bottom line is pretty simple: western bun (soft sesame), western frank (turkey, bratwurst, beef – except for the kurobuta pork which I haven’t tried yet), and japanese toppings.

The Terimayo: A beef sausage with seaweed, mayo, teriyaki sauce, and fried onions: delicous. The hot beef with the crispy, salty seaweek and the teri/onions is perfect. This is your frank that anyone could love. A great place to start for the uninitiated.

The Oroshi: (pic above) Our favorite. Bratwurst topped with green onions, grated radish and soya sauce. Soo delicious! The cold, bittersweet radish with the saltiness of the soy and the bite of the onions is a perfect pairing for this bratwurst. Quite possibly, this is my favorite hotdog ever. A daily driver.

The Miso Mayo: Turkey dog topped with radish sprouts, mayo, and sesame/miso sauce. Flavours here are pretty subtle and we ended up with a very, very tough and chewy turkey dog. Not all that enjoyable on the first try because the rubbery turkey dog took too much away from the subtly-flavoured toppings, and the whole thing just didn’t work. I like these guys too much to put this one down – I’d have to try it again on another day before rendering formal judgement.

You might just walk on by, but don’t.
