Just go there. It is french institution with two stores in Place de la Madeleine filled with beautiful food products – particularly exquisite (or should I say exquisite-looking since we never actually bought one) desserts and our favorite pain au chocolat. Grab an espresso and pain au chocolat, snag a seat by the bar at the window and start your morning in Paris. After we did a taste-off of the list of the best croissants (and pain au chocolat) in Paris based on a list of the best croissants in Paris published in Le Figaro, a local paper, Fauchon was our favorite although there are many that are almost/just as delicious, particularly at Pierre Herme, which was voted number one by Le Figaro (See the blog post on Paris croissants). But Pierre Herme is more well-known for its amazing macarons and even if you think you don’t like macarons, try one of these babies and you will quickly realize you are mistaken. See the blog post on Paris croissants.
