Uno Chicago Grill – Chicago

December 9th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Chicago - Uno's Pizza Chicago - Uno's Pizza If you want to try the classic deep dish chicago pizza, Uno’s is not a bad bet although it is likely not the best deep dish pizza in town. In fact, there are many posts on the web discussing this very subject, such as, Personally, we liked Gino’s East better. Each pizza takes about 45 min to cook from the time you order it which is a nice, although time-consuming change, from the re-heated pizzas available elsewhere. The lunch deal is faster (25min) and cheaper $7.95 (including salad or soup) but I wonder if the bigger pizzas would taste better – with a better filling to crust ratio. No reservations so be prepared to wait or arrive early.

    #1: Worst Pizza in America
Uno Chicago Grill Chicago Classic Deep Dish Pizza (Individual)
    2,310 calories
    162 g fat (54 g saturated fat)
    4,920 mg sodium

Wait, wait, wait. This is a one-person pizza? Yup. All 2,310 calories are destined for one soon-to-be expanding belly. This pie has been a perennial pick for us over the past three years, and the reason is simple: No other personal pizza in the country even begins to approach these numbers. It breaks every single caloric recommendation on the books, and it does it under the guise of a must-have “classic” dish. With the country being plagued by obesity, Uno should have the decency to banish—or significantly improve—this dish.
