Gandhi's Indian Cuisine – Toronto

Ghandi Roti Ghandi Roti Ghandi Roti Ghandi Roti

One of my favorite places for indian roti – hands down. Be careful that you don’t just walk by this tiny unassuming shop. The tip off should be the customers inside that something special is there. Order a roti that is made to order right in front of your eyes. This can take a bit of time but it is worth it – so if you are in a hurry – call ahead.

Check out the roti rolling machine right behind the counter – the chef is a stickler about the quality of the roti. The fresh hot flat bread enveloping the delicious curry is not to be missed. The portion is quite large so if you aren’t too hungry – share one. But who’s kidding who – get your own – it is so tasty that in a flash you will have finished it all by yourself. Even if you haven’t finished it – the roti basically comes served in a take-away container anyways so just ask for a lid and go. I love the butter chicken roti but we also like the muttar paneer (peas) and saag paneer (spinach). They ask you how spicy you would like it and be aware that spicy is truly quite spicy. I have to admit that my nose was running. You can stay and eat your roti at one of the 3 tables inside the small cramped place but don’t expect any atmosphere and it can get quite hot – ideally get take-out.

There’s definitely something to be said about food already served in a take-away container. 🙂

    The roti looks amazing, btw…
