Now this is one restaurant that deserves a Bib Gourmand certification – delicious dinner for two including wine (yes, in Venice) for €27? The owners should be called magicians, not restaurateurs.

Let me back up. Last night we walked by a huge mob of people outside of this restaurant – we wrote down the name and came back tonight at 6:55pm (most restaurants in Italy seem to open for dinner at 7pm). There were all these people inconspicuously wandering around the area, who all made a flash mob at the door at 7pm. Thankfully, we made it into the lovely canal-side garden seating area, with a pseudo-ceiling of vines and old stone walls that makes for beautiful outside dining.

While the menu included a pasta meal including wine for €14pp, we went for the pizza (after seeing two huge pizza ovens through the kitchen window). D ordered the ricotta and spinach pizza and I ordered the ham, salami, and mushroom pizza. Both came out within 10 minutes with deliciously thin crusts, just the right amount of toppings, and both pizzas were gone within 20 minutes. A 500cc carafe of prosecco to complement the food, and it made for a quick, entirely reasonably-priced dinner.

Service was efficient, pleasant enough for Venice (what do you expect with a place that has 20 million tourists per year?) and really, this place should be on anyone’s list who wants casual outdoor dining with very good pizza (the pasta looked quite good as well but we didn’t try it – next time), fast service, and excellent value.

This restaurant also seemed to be very kid-friendly – lots of families with young children were dining there as well – but you might want to call ahead to make a reservation as the restaurant fills up so quickly – by 7:30 a line was starting to form outside.

(NB: Google Maps keeps showing the incorrect location for this restaurant – it is not near the Doge’s Palace – so I’m not going to include a map. Check the guidebooks or ask around)
