La Sorbetteria Castiglione – Bologna, Italy

November 11th, 2009 · No Comments

A very well-known purveyor of gelato in Bologna which has won awards . It is a different kind of gelato from what we had a Perche No – much richer-tasting with a fuller mouth feel. In fact, as they are scooping it out from the containers, the gelato just looks thick and hangs off the scoop in long threads. There is an english menu and the staff (like most large townsSorbetteria Castiglione - Bologna, Italy Sorbetteria Castiglione - Bologna, Italy Sorbetteria Castiglione - Bologna, Italy Sorbetteria Castiglione - Bologna, Italy in Italy) speak English. The selection is quite wide including your traditional italian flavours (eg. baci, stracciatella, pistachio), the fruit flavours and finally original flavour combinations that are named after people. This gelato is worth trying just to try the difference with the other gelatos you have tried. We like the crema d’uvo (egg cream with chunks of caramel and vin santo ) and, of course the fruit flavours. Take a seat on the bench in this modern ice cream parlour and watch the customers flow in and out. Delicious gelato – probably the best that we had in Bologna – definitely worth a stop on a hot Summer’s night.
