Per Se - New York

Save this place for a special occasion since at $275 per person for the tasting menu (vegetarian option available) or $175 for a five-course prix fixe, this is not a cheap experience. But I have to say that it is worth it. Come hungry because this is a 4 hour epic meal enjoyed at a leisurely pace so that your stomach has enough time to slowly expand to accommodate all the delicious food that you won’t be able to resist.

The room is a modern setting with tables far enough from each other that everyone has their privacy. Beautiful flower arrangements adorn the room. Huge windows look out over Columbus Circle and Central Park and light streams in on a beautiful sunny day. The service is impeccable with someone discreetly attending to your needs at all times. I think one of our servers said that there are about 40-50 front room staff.

Get settled in to appreciate the marathon of food that you are about to experience. Although there is no formal wine pairing, they are happy to prepare one for you. There was not a single dish that we didn’t like but the best were the squash tureen, lobster ravioli and oyster pearls. Even after dessert, there is still many more desserts to come including chocolate covered hazelnuts, a selection of chocolates, truffles, nougat, caramels and even a small creme brulee.
