Murray's Bagels - New York

While walking around Chelsea, we decided to drop by this institution and it was busy. We wanted to see what the fuss was all about given that the chef of Per Se had recommended this place in an article pasted in the window. Be prepared to wait in line and possibly not find a seat. Quite a few people were ordering salad, but today our mission was to try the bagel.

Dutifully we waited in line to order a sesame bagel with scallion cream cheese, red onion and tomatoes. The result was a relatively large bagel filled with creamy goodness. We are not bagel experts by any means but compared to Daniel’s bagels – this bagel was a little too chewy for our taste. Of course, that did not stop us from eating all of it. From reading some articles on bagels, it seems like the big differentiator between the best bagels is the freshness, so maybe your best choice in a bagel should be whatever just came out of the oven…
