One of the first things that you need to figure out about any city is where the good bakery is.

And Copenhagen certainly has its share of good bakeries. Lagkagehuset is one of them, with about 10 locations around the city. We tried their Muesli bread – covered in pumpkin seeds, whole wheat inside, with tiny soft raisins – perfect with some fruit preserves.

Their pastries aren’t going to put France out of business any time soon, but they’ll do while visiting Denmark, and many would even call them good.

We also tried a strawberry-and-whipped-cream-topped dessert with a crispy, chocolate base – indeed delicious.

My ideal walking tour of Copenhagen would include stops from bakery to bakery, and definitely there would be one (or more) stops at the Lagkagehusets along the way.
